Charles Prew and Tim Grew compose the 2017 Team of the Year

You can't make these guys choke!

New England Champs

They bring the heat!

They wanted this title last year. This year they earned it. Congrats to Charles Prew and Tim Grew as they are the 2017 Boston Cornhole Team of the Year! This year's distinction came down to a battle between arguably (and it's a very strong argument) the top two teams; last year's winners, Lance Madden paired with Pigeon and our new titleholders.

Let's start by giving Pigeon and Lance some praise because they won Last Bag Standing back in March over a field that included some nationally known names and illustrated that the Bay State is ready to compete with anybody. In that tournament, Grew and Prew rounded out the podium with a strong third place finish. Outside of that event, Charles and Tim won every other head-to-head matchup with our runner-ups. And when a head-to-head battle wasn't in the cards, they still won! Although I am sure they would be willing to help me, there are just too many victories to list!

Head-to-Head

January: IBEW Tournament - Prew/Grew 1st. Lance/Pigeon 2nd.

March: Last Bag Standing - Lance/Pigeon 1st. Prew/Grew 3rd. Note, they never met head-to-head.

July: BSSC Tournament - Prew/Grew 1st. Lance/Pigeon 2nd.

September: Fenway Cornhole Classic - Prew/Grew 3rd. Lance/Pigeon 4th. Note, Prew/Grew knocked Lance/Pigeon out of the tournament.

I am hoping that our top teams battle more in 2018. And there are plenty of others in the mix who can certainly make some noise over the next twelve months. I would start naming names, but then this post will begin to lose some objectivity!

While we are on the topic of teams, I would like to give thanks to those who have helped Boston Cornhole in 2017. Trust me, I will need your help again next year!
