A big thanks to all who turned out on opening night!

Opening Night Action

It was a wonderful opening night turnout in Wilmington last Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Cornhole League. It was a great mix of familiar faces and newbies tossing bags. Finding the winner's circle was the pairing of arguably the area's best player and the guy who may have caused the most arguments regarding the top players. Congrats to Kevin Lowry and Pigeon! Rich Queen walked his way to second place with Evanda Jackson and Chris Smalley rounding out the podium. Pigeon pulled off the double by tallying a high score of 69 on the skinny boards with Woburnites Lance Madden and Rich Queen not far behind. He now tops the standings with a perfect five points! His lead certainly is not unassailable, but that's a pretty good start! For everyone else, let's go after the bird next Thursday! Even if you missed the opener, it's not too late as you only need to attend five of the seven tournaments to be eligible for cash prizes.

Improvements?

The healthy turnout of 30+ players tells me that you all must like the format. But, keep in mind that I know it's not perfect and we are certainly open to any improvements. For starters, ten frames on the skinny boards seemed too many. Perhaps we reduce this to six or even go with a different side challenge each week (airmail, last man standing). Suggestions? Was anyone else hungry? It's great to toss bags and drink beers for three hours, but where can we get some food!? I am not familiar with the area, so if anyone knows of a local pizza place that would deliver, let's get that sorted. I am already looking forward to next week. We will draw chips at 7:15 PM, so please text or email if you are running late. Au revoir until then...
