ACO Tournaments to be held north and south of Boston in Season 13...

Tim Grew will run ACO events on the South Shore

An Unbelievable States and Worlds in July

A solid 48 players from all over New England competing at Mohegan Sun followed by a week of cornhole with MFer and the best players in the country in Owensboro had this guy pumped once again about competitive cornhole! Super excited about Season 13, I began to scan the September calendar for a good regional date...and then I scanned some more. Let's face it, I really want to push competitive cornhole this season, but the reality is that there are bigger checks out there to be cashed. Looking back, this has definitely been a factor in making ACO tournaments as accessible as they should be the past two seasons. So what is the solution?

Let's grow with Grew!

Am I adding Tim Grew because I need more haters? No, I have enough of them. But, there are several reasons why the South Shore's best pitcher is the obvious choice to join the Boston Cornhole ACO squad. For starters, he already is a very efficient tournament director with a solid base of players that play both at Barrett's in the summer and at the Bridgewater Vets Club in the winter months. Most importantly, if Tim is running the tournaments, he is also playing in them (his partner isn't too shabby either) meaning these will be very competitive events which is what I want for Massachusetts! I want Freddie Schulz to get that trophy he keeps asking about, but I want him to earn it! I cannot stress enough the importance of competition in narrowing the gap between Massachusetts and the country's top tossers. Come play with the best and get better! Don't be the team that goes from contender to pretender...actually, I think that role has already been filled. Look for ACO regional tournaments on Tuesdays in Bridgewater beginning soon!

So now I have to drive to Bridgewater instead of Pawtucket to play ACO, great!?

Nope. We want the entire state involved! You can't talk competitive cornhole without including Lance, Larry, and the rest of the Rice Baggers. While Grew will keep the South Shore on lock, I am setting my sights on the North Shore with the hope of bringing the Rice Baggers back into the ACO fold. I also hope to draw some of those NH tossers that did very well at Mohegan Sun...maybe even host a few regional tournaments in Litchfield if they ever clean up that water issue. But, for starters, I'm going to get Woburn's favorite son on the horn (I guess he still wins when nobody is watching) and see if we can set up shop in District 13. Ideally, we can fill the American Legion with minivans and suped-up Honda Civics starting in September! Stay tuned...

ACO or ACL?

I say play both if you can. We mean it when we say we want to grow the game and would never tell anyone not to play in a tournament run by someone else. Both are great choices that are more similar than different, but will push each other to get better. ACO has set the standard and format for competitive cornhole. With the advent of the ACL, ACO has been forced to add bigger purses and will be introducing a social division for Season 13. If you have to make a decision to play in only one, be informed, ask, and don't assume. If you think ACL tournaments will have bigger payouts, think again! Boston Cornhole has the resources to compete in any market and that is what we will do. Our ACO tournaments will start at 80% payout this season and go wherever the market may take it. Game On!
