40 Plus: Rich and a slimmer Randy defend the title
Two weeks ago, 19 teams battled it out in our 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Tournament at Great American Tavern in North Reading. With our larger tournaments, there is often opportunity for a few warm-up games before the going gets tough. That was not the case in this one as the field was densely stacked with talent. There weren't many pink hats in this one (The MCB guys wear grey)! As such, and as expected, we had some better than average teams go 0-2 and get knocked out quickly.
While the tots would receive more than the 40 toys that were collected, it was team 40 Plus, Randy Parker and Rich Queen, who cashed the biggest check on the day by winning the tournament for the second straight year! The runner-ups were Shawn and Sarah, who dropped their first game and last game, but won everything else in between. In 2013, I partnered with both Shawn and Sarah...not only did they combine for 2nd place, but they knocked my team out of the tournament! Rounding out the podium was team K2, Kyle and Keith Lessard, debuting new team jerseys. The Dracut Duo started strong with a nice run to the winner bracket's final, but dropped their last two matches to settle for third best. Honorable mention goes to team Drink for Free, Brad Bishop and Jason Baldeck; they had the vocal support from their Bridgewater Buddy who slipped out of girlfriend mode long enough to cheer them on to a fourth place finish.
A new wrinkle to this year's event was the introduction of the Money Shot. Four different competitors each managed a single cornhole on the MCB Skinny Boards worth $105. Congrats go out to Kyle Lessard, Keith Lessard, Randy Parker, and Rob Doherty.

As we close out a successful 2013, we look forward to an even bigger and better 2014. Stay tuned for some big announcements in January! Happy New Year!
