A full day of cornhole last Saturday!

Uncle Sarge and Tyler

CNY Cornhole's Finest - Coyne and Laba

Rachael wins our 1st Women's Regional

They say that this is a great era to be a New England sports fan as our professional sports teams have renamed Boston Titletown over the past decade plus. With opportunities to pitch bags in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire, the same may be said about the cornhole era in New England. And to extend the simile a bit further, just as our beloved Pats cannot beat the Giants when it matters most, the best cornholers from New England still cannot get over the hump against the boys from the Empire State. Once again, Scott Laba and Shayne Coyne traveled east and left victorious by winning our Toys for Tots tournament at the Boundary Brewhouse in Pawtucket, RI. The champs' only loss came against their fellow CNY Cornhole combatants, Brian and Tyler Kiddle who finished in third place. The Rhody Brothers have been playing a HOLE lot better lately and their effort placed them second on the podium. While Marc and Brian may not have led the day in four-baggers, the Fall River duo certainly brought the biggest sack of toys! Big ups to you guys for your kindness!

After the Toys for Tots tournament, the cornhole action continued with the ACO Hole-I-Day Regional Tournament. First up was doubles where I inexplicably handed Sarge (who I always root against) the best partner in the building by pairing him with Tyler Kiddle. As expected, this interstate team enjoyed an undefeated run to pay dirt and 25 regional points. In singles play, as our state champ sat at the bar watching carrot videos, the last person crowned New York State Champion kept on winning. Tyler Kiddle held off the double-dip attempt by his new Uncle-figure, Sarge. A great Ocean State start for Tyler who will be living in Providence for the next six months!

And while the Triple-header was planned, we squeezed in a fourth tournament by hosting our first ever Women's ACO Tournament! Rachael McCabe, the pre-tournament favorite, lived up to expectations with an undefeated victory. Perhaps I should profile Chuck in the upcoming piece on Cornhole WAGs as Rachael may be the A-side of this power cornhole couple! Stephanie took a break from her "Bar Control" duties to finish in second place. Beth earned 23 points on the day by taking third place.
