NECS and Magic Mile Championships on tap for this weekend...

Cornhole and NASCAR come together this weekend with the Magic Mile Cornhole Championships...what do you get when you combine people who toss bags with those who like to watch cars take left turns?? A demographic that hopefully stays away from the polls in November, but let's not digress...If you love playing cornhole, drinking cold beers, and soaking in the sun, I cannot think of a better place to be than at NHMS this weekend! Our challenge is to maximize this wonderful opportunity to showcase the nation's fastest growing sport. With that in mind, we will continually run blind draws throughout Friday and Saturday to allow you to enjoy the tailgate and still catch the action on the oval. Each blind draw will be a small, six to eight team, single-elimination tournament with a 50% payout to the top two teams. Entry into a blind draw tournament is $10/person with a portion of each entry fee donated to the SPEEDWAY Children's Charity.

If you consider yourself a cornhole stud, you won't want to miss our Open Singles tournament on Friday afternoon. Play begins at 1 PM. The player entry fee is $50/person. Cash prizes and the number of places paid will be based on the number of participants; we will require a minimum of ten players to hold the singles event.

Friday evening culminates the New England Cornhole Series which began in April....and sputtered along since. While there was hope that there would be more interest in a regional series, the reality highlights the challenges of trying to organically grow the sport in the New England area. Nonetheless, as planned, we are giving the finals the green flag on Friday evening with some significant modifications. While teams that have qualified are automatically entered, we are opening the championship tournament up to everybody to maximize participation! Non-qualifiers would be required to pay a $50/team entry fee to compete. Online registration is available on the Magic Mile Cornhole Championships page or you may pay on-site. Along with the entry change, we are also modifying the prize structure. It is still a winner-take-all championship with the following on the line:

  • $350 cash or two sets of professional cornhole boards (winners' choice)

  • Two Complimentary ACO Season XII Memberships

  • A John Moran autographed selfie

Prior to closing the book on the NECS, let's give thanks to the area cornhole directors who supported the series and hosted qualifiers:

  • 603 Cornhole

  • Great Cornholio Boards

  • Southbridge Cornhole

We will close the show with our Open Doubles main event on Saturday afternoon. Bags for this Bring Your Own Partner Tournament fly at 2:30 PM. The team entry fee is $80/team. Cash prizes and the number of places paid will be based on the number of teams.

For more information regarding Open Singles, the NECS, and Open Doubles visit the Magic Mile Cornhole Championships page; online and on-site registration will be available. Once again, a portion of the entry fees will go to the SPEEDWAY Children's Charity.
