The Top Three Teams from MA, ME, and NH
It was sunny, hot, and humid in Amesbury...we also had torrential downpours. There were some veteran teams mixed in with some newbies. Put this all together and it translates in to five hours of cornhole fun! The round robin format divided the 42 teams among eight cornhole courts for group play. Each team played four matches within their group with the top four teams from each group advancing to the single-elimination, 32-team bracket. This was our first time running this format and feedback from the participants was very positive!
The competition picked up in the elimination bracket as several matches came right down to the wire with no match more dramatic than the final! Up 20-5, it appeared as if the Looch Crew from Maine were destined to make it out of Dodge with the title. However, team Dirty Dots started scratching their way back in to the match with a few points here and a few more there. After a few big rounds and 16 unanswered points, the score tallied 21-20 and the comeback was complete! Congrats to our winners and thanks to all who played. We hope to see everyone again next year in Amesbury!
